What is and when Is Time to Talk Day.

Time to Talk Day is taking place on Thursday, 5th February 2026.

Every year Mind and Rethink Mental Illness run Time to Talk Day which is ‘a day for friends, families, communities, and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives’.

Talking about mental health, let alone starting a conversation about it, is not always easy. However, it is through talking openly, in a safe environment, that we can raise awareness, increase knowledge and understanding, remove the stigma, and help improve the mental wellbeing of those around us.

Therefore, we are encouraging our Supporters, partners and friends to start the conversation within their own organisations and across their networks to help break down the stigma of talking about mental health.

#TimeToTalkDay
Opening up about our mental health can be the first step towards getting help.
If you or someone you care about needs support, visit mind.org.uk/TimeToTalkDay

The goal is simple: create more comfortable, everyday conversations about mental health among friends, families, colleagues, schools, workplaces and communities. Talking openly can reduce stigma and help someone feel supported or find help when they need it

Why it matters
• Talking about how we feel can be the first step toward better mental wellbeing.
• The campaign has inspired millions of conversations across the UK in previous years.
• It also highlights how discrimination and stigma can make conversation difficult, and encourages making environments more stigma-free and supportive.

How you can take part
Have a conversation: Text, call or meet someone just to ask how they’re doing.
Share online: Use social media to spread awareness and share stories.
Organise an event: Host a discussion at school, work, or in your community.
Listen actively: Give space to listen without judgment — it matters as much as talking.
