It is with great sadness that the branch wishes to inform its members of the death of Jim Webb, who passed away recently, at the age of 86.
Jim who lived in Southend, joined the CWU or the POEU as it was back in the day, in July 1966. He held various roles within the branches, which now make up the Essex and Central Counties branch.
He was the Assistant Political Officer and the Retired Members Rep, still attending the Retired Members Conferences at Birmingham. Jim was also an active member for us in the Southend Trades Council.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to all his friends and family at this sad time.
Jim’s funeral will be held on the 24th August 12:00 noon, at the West Chapel Crematorium, Sutton Road, Southend on Sea, SS2 5PX. Afterwards at the Ecko Social and Sports Club, Thornford Gardens, Southend on Sea, SS2 6PU.
