Retiring from your Job, don’t retire from your Union.

Members can remain in the Union for £7.37 a month (as from 1st Jan 2025). For this you keep all the benefits of membership including – Advice on Pensions and Benefits. Free Wills. Legal advice for you and your partner. Access to discounted goods and services. Regular copies of ‘The Veteran’ with news appropriate to retired members. Past issues can be viewed here.

And not forgetting, your named death beneficiary is entitled to receive the CWU Death Benefit,
which stands at £1,133, as from October 2025 and increases every October.

Many older people are worried that the rise in the State Pension on 6th April will see their income rise above the UK tax threshold for the first time. NPC members have specifically questioned what this will mean for their Winter Fuel Payment if it was automatically paid into their accounts.
